Alvina (Middlestead) Shearer, 88, of Helena, passed away Saturday, October 9, 2010 at the Cooney Home in Helena.
Alvina was born December 9, 1921 in Dickey, North Dakota to Fred and Lydia (Rienke) Middlestead. She attended schools and went on to work as a waitress in California, Nevada, Oregon, and Montana. She also was a Radio Songstress for a time. Alvina loved singing, needlecraft and church. She married Howard V. ‘Vic’ Shearer on July 23, 1997 in Helena, MT.
Alvina is preceded in death by her parents; her previous husbands, Al Scoba and Clarence Crum; a daughter, Joan M. Williamson; sisters, Hulda Miller and Elizabeth Middlestead; and brothers, Lee Middlestead, Rudolf Middlestead, and Fred Middlestead. She is survived by her husband, (Howard) Vic Shearer; a brother, Henry Middlestead of Valley City, ND; sisters, Willa Mae Monson of Litville, ND and Dorothy (Walter) Rienke of Townsend, MT; grandchildren, Erik Williamson of CA, Gary Hascall, Nicolas Jewell, Bonnie Burner, Robert Schoenborne, and Ashley Maedche all of the Helena area; and three great-grandchildren.
Alvina wished for no formal services to be held and she will be laid to rest in California. Memorials in Alvina’s name are suggested to the Cooney Home or to the Hospice of St. Peter’s. My condolences to you Vic. I know she loved you so much. I will always remember Alvina’s wonderful warm welcome and smile to whomever was in her presence. She was a such a sweet lady. Sorry to hear she has gone, but I know she got a hearty welcome on the other side.
