In memory of

Betty Burns, age 67 of Helena

April 15, 1951 – August 9, 2018

On Thursday August 9, 2018 Betty (Betz) Burns lost her battle with Lupus with her devoted husband by her side and went home to be with the Lord. Betty was born April 15, 1951 in Butte, Mt to George J Bootz and Velma (Betty) Young. Betty grew up in Butte and attended Garfield elementary school, East Jr. High, and Butte High. While enrolled in a government educational program, she met Fred Burns who was the love of her life. Fred and Betty were married July 24, 1971 at the Gospel Chapel in Butte, Mt.

Betty worked at the Sportsman Bar in Butte as a keno caller and as a cashier at Kmart while living in Billings for a short time. After the birth of their first child in 1972, Betty was a home maker. She was well known for her adventurous personality and as a strong independent woman. She was often seen riding her motorcycle around town. Betty grew up with her childhood friends and remained a constant in each other’s lives as adults. She loved playing games and would quite often have her friends and neighbors over for a good game of cards and a glass of fresh brewed iced tea. She was an avid country and gospel music fan. Betty’s favorite flowers were tulips. ┬áCamping, fishing, and traveling were all enjoyed by her. The moments spent with her adoring grandchildren was her favorite past time. She was a talented piano and accordion player, often playing for her church and also played the clarinet in the high school band. Betty had a great sense of humor up to the very end. Her smile lit up the darkest of days and her laughter was infectious. Who ever met Betty, met a friend. She was always rooting for the underdog and her loyalty had no bounds. There wasn’t much she wouldn’t do for her friends or family in which to her they were one in the same.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Velma (Betty) Bootz; infant son, Justin Connely Burns; and loving fur baby, JD (Jack Daniels).

She is survived by husband, Fred Connely Burns; and her fur baby, Arie; daughter, Pamala Ann Cranmer (Burns) and husband Iven (Butch) of Helena; grandsons: Kenneth and (Candi) Cranmer, Brycen Connely Cranmer of Helena, granddaughters: Heather, Bethany and Brelynda Cranmer, Bailey and Abigail Wood all of Helena; great grandchildren: Rachel and Ryan Muckey, Rosalie Lynn and Kenneth Richard Iven Cranmer Jr. all of Grand Island NE.

A Celebration of Life “Pot Luck” to be held Saturday Aug 18 at 1:00 8┬áS Park Ave 1st floor. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Lupus Foundation of America or American Heart Association. Thank you.
