Dawn Isabella Hrouda of Helena passed away April 30, 2011 surrounded by her family. Dawn was born to Willis and Isabella Wood May 21, 1932, in Brooklyn, New York. She spent the majority of her childhood in the Helena area, graduating from Helena High in 1950.
She was previously married to the late Donald Hoff and together they had five children. A self-taught woman with many skills, she later went on to work as a clerk for the East Helena post office, and a bookkeeper at Anderson-Zurmuehlen.
On April 6, 1985, she married Wiliam Hrouda, whom she’d known from Bryant Elementary School. Together they opened and operated the Valley Feed Bag. They recently celebrated their twenty-sixth wedding anniversary.
Dawn and Bill spent many years golfing, bowling, watching college sports, gardening, and working around their property. Dawn’s handiwork included knitting, crocheting, quilting, and sewing. Her family enjoys many of her colorful creations.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son Michael John Hoff, and daughter Mary Katherine Giuliani.
She is survived by her husband, William Hrouda; brother, William Taylor; sister, Betsy Phillips; son, Thomas (Kathy) Dunnehoff of Kalispell; daughter, Kimberly (Rich) Runkel of Brier, WA; son, David (Robin) Hoff of Puyallup, WA. Grandchildren include Ava and Grace Dunnehoff , John and Megan Runkel, James, Katie, David and Mary Giuliani, and Rebecca Bisson.
