Rob C. Rogers, age 58, died on Thursday, October 7, 2010 at his home in Helena.
Rob was born on February 1, 1952 in Missoula, MT to Robert and Mary Jane Rogers. Rob started his career as a Union Ironworker at the age of 17, moving all over the country with his family to various jobs. He loved “working in the air”; he was a true craftsman that could turn iron or any other building material into a work of art.
Rob married Celeste Hollingsworth on July 3, 1999 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
After 35 years of ironwork, Rob retired and bought his Harley Davidson motorcycle. From then on, there was never a season when the “Harley” was not on the road either for short trips around town or very long trips to Anchorage, AK to see his daughter Teresa, her husband Mark, his son Bryce and the grandkids (Jada, Makeya, Roystan and Harry) and then off to the southernmost point of Mexico stopping to see his grandson, Scott in Los Lunas, NM on the way. He had almost 100,000 miles on his bike and was very proud of this fact. Rob was always ready for a ride anytime and anywhere.
Rob was also a very talented landscaper and gardener. He took care of many yards in the neighborhood and always received compliments on his own yard, which he worked continuously to improve. He spent the last two summers working at Valley Farms taking care of plants and enjoying his work.
Rob enjoyed all of his grandchildren immensely and loved the fact that they called him “motorcycle papa”; they were the highlight of his life.
We must mention here that Rob and Celeste had two cats, Tazzy and Sydney that brought much amusement to the household. At morning and evening coffee, the “guys” with cats drank coffee and told of the days adventures with their “kittys”.
Rob has left a huge gap in our lives. Sometimes when one person is missing, the whole world seems depopulated.
Rob is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Rob M. Rogers; and a sister, Karen Sampson. He is survived by his wife, Celeste; a daughter, Teresa (Mark) Royer of Albuquerque, NM; his son, Bryce Rogers of Sand Point, AK;and a step-daughter, Lisa Gaskell of Great Falls, MT; brothers, Jess Rogers of Butte, MT and Randy Rogers of Louisiana; six grandchildren, Jada, Makeya, Roystan, Harry, Scott and Kayla; his former wife and friend, Susan; several nieces and nephews; and his many close friends.
At Rob’s request, there will be a private memorial service for the family at a later date. Memorials may be sent in Rob’s name to the Lewis and Clark Humane Society, P.O. Box 4455, Helena, MT 59604. Arrangements are under the care of Retz Funeral Home. To offer a condolence to the family or to share a memory of Rob, please visit www.retzfuneralhome.com.

We’re so sorry to hear about Rob’s passing. We will always look for him at Starbucks. If we saw the Harley we would go in to catch up on the family news. Rob’s greeting was always “Hi cousin” then a hug. We send a hug to everyone.

Rob was my mom and dad’s neighbor for many years. As they grew older and were not able to take care of their yard, he did it for them. He was always there to shovel their walk (sometimes before they even were awake). He was very good to them and to my mom after my dad’s death. I greatly appreciated everthing he did for my parents.

I still find I am listening for the sound of Robs Harley driving by and the friendly wave he always gave me. Rob was so kind and helpful and offered a listening ear and took great care of our yard this past summer. I waved to him the night before his passing as he drove by on his Harley never realizing it would be for the last time. I know that is how I will always remember him……
