Agnes Pearl Drake peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 14, 2015 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Agnes was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will be missed by all who knew her.
Agnes was born on May 16, 1939 in Missoula, Montana to Almer and Mariah Pearl Jones. She grew up in Missoula and graduated from high school in Missoula. It was there she met the love of her life, Delmar K Drake, and married him 3 days after her graduation from high school on June 8, 1957.
They moved to Dillon, Montana, and lived there for nearly 50 years. While in Dillon, Agnes attended Western Montana College and graduated Valedictorian in 1972, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, while raising three children. During her time in Dillon, Agnes held jobs at the Federal Land Bank, the Bureau of Land Management, the Duke Gilbert Law Offices, and retired from Great Harvest Bread Company.
Del and Agnes moved to Helena in February 2003 to be close to their daughter, son-in-law and granddaughters. They attended Hannaford Street Bible Church.
Agnes loved people and relationships, especially spending time with her family whom she gathered together as often as she could. She had a great sense of humor and was a very caring person. She also loved vacationing and spending time in the “sticks” (as she called it), camping and being around lakes and rivers.
Agnes was preceded in death by her parents, Almer and Pearl Jones, as well as her grandson, Anthony Drake. She is survived by her husband, Delmar, her two sons, Larry Drake of Brigham City, Utah, and Monte Drake (Leslie) of Post Falls, Idaho, and one daughter, Lana Chambers (Larry) of Clancy, Montana. She is also survived by her two sisters Eileen Johnson of Bellingham, Washington and Hazel Hinman (Alvie) of Lolo, Montana, as well as her brother, Allen Jones (Becci) of Clancy, Montana, seven grandchildren, one great grand-child and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00–8:00 PM Friday, June 19th at Retz Funeral Home, 315 E. 6th Avenue, Helena, Montana. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 20th at 2:00 PM at Hannaford Street Bible Church, 830 N. Hannaford Street, Helena, Montana with Pastor John Fenlason officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to either the Helena Option’s Women Clinic at 1005 Partridge Place, Suite 1, Helena, Montana 59602, Hospice of St. Peter’s, 2475 Broadway, Helena, Montana 59601, or a charity of choice.

“NanaMom” always had fruit snacks that she loved to share with our kiddos. She was so kind and generous and always had a smile on her face. She loved all of her family so much and made a special effort to be at all of their activities. She was such an angel and will be missed!
Rich Jespersen says
The Lord’s close comfort to you all in this time of loss. Our loss is her gain in Christ, an Easter with her name on it. Love you!
Rich and Karen Jespersen says
Right now, we are praying for all of you, that the Lord gives you peace, even joy, that your mom and grandma is now with Christ, even though she isn’t here now. She fought so hard, and you were the most devoted family-a true gift to her. May Jesus bless and keep you, hold you all up, knowing you will see her again. In Christ’s love, Rich and Karen

We will miss dear Agnes. She loved her family and always expressed so much care for the well-being of each one of you! She was a woman who pursued knowledge throughout her lifetime and her words always reflected patience, humility, and grace. She is now laughing, maybe even dancing, in heaven!

Agnes was such a gentle soul. She always had a smile on her face and a great sense of humor. She was a joy to be around. My daughter Ellen is a friend of Teal Chambers , so several times when the girls were little, Agnes included Ellen in her outings with Teal. It was such a special thing for us considering we don’t have any grandparents living in Helena. Ellen enjoyed it immensely and has very fond memories of those times. We love you all and feel so blessed to have been a part of your lives.
