Carol Jensen Roberts, 70, died April 17th, 2016, at her home on Placid Lake. It was a beautiful, blue sky, spring day and she was in her most favorite of places. The angel choirs have added a beautiful voice to the soprano section.
Carol was born July 12th, 1945 in Chicago to Arthur and Alice Jensen. The family moved to Jamestown, North Dakota at the end of WWII. She attended Jamestown High School where she was the valedictorian of her class and graduated from Jamestown College in 1967 with a B.S. in Math (with honors) and a minor in Music.
After college, Carol worked in Green Bay, WI as a systems engineer for I.B.M. from 1967 to 1969. On a work trip to New Orleans she met a fellow I.B.M. employee Bill Roberts, the love of her life. They were married on September 13th, 1969. She spent the rest of her days as a devoted full time mother, wife, homemaker and grandmother.
After five years in Baton Rouge, LA. the family moved to Helena, MT. Through the years she has been an active member of the Helena Symphony Chorale, the St. Helena Cathedral Choir, and Musikanten. She enjoyed bowling at the old Capital City Lanes, Helena Symphony concerts and Grand Street Theatre.
Carol’s interests included family, gardening, singing, sewing, knitting and other handwork, and puzzles of all kinds. She could do ANY crossword and loved Will Shortz’ Sunday puzzler on NPR. She was an accomplished piano player and passed her musical skills and passion on to her children.
She loved to travel. Some of her favorite destinations were Hawaii, Europe, Puerto Vallarta and, of course, Lincoln, NE and Nashville, TN to visit her loving grandchildren.
Carol is survived by her husband of 47 years, Bill; brother, Roy Jensen of Jamestown, ND; daughter Karin, her spouse Carl Lundstedt, and granddaughter Alison Lundstedt of Lincoln, NE; and son Chris, his spouse Wendy, and granddaughters Emily and Abigail Roberts of Nashville, TN.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Alice (Dahlstrom) Jensen and a sister, Lois Irene Jensen.
A memorial service to celebrate Carol’s life will be held on Friday, April 22nd at 2:30 pm at Retz Funeral Home, 315 E. 6th Avenue, to be followed by an interment at a later date at The Best Last Place cemetery in Seeley Lake.
Memorials suggested to Food Share, the Good Samaritan Store, or the “Carol Jensen Roberts Scholarship” at the University of Jamestown, Jamestown, ND.
