A long-time Townsend rancher, Hubert A. Plymale, 93, passed away from natural causes at St. Peter’s Hospital on August 25, 2012.
Hubert was born on October 3, 1918 in Townsend to the late John G. (Bert) and Olive Keene Plymale. He attended school at the Duck Creek rural school and high school in Townsend.
Hubert married Edna Ann Muncy on May 5th, 1954. They lived on Gurnett Creek and raised cattle and hay. Edna passed away on March 24, 1988. Hubert continued ranching and taking care of the cattle he loved.
On October 30, 1989, Hubert married Anna Marie Knoll. This marriage brought many more loving family members into Hubert’s life. Anna Marie passed away on August 6, 2004.
Hubert drove up Deep Creek Canyon every day to the mountains—to his “section house” ranch, located in Meagher County. He would check on the cows, put out salt, check the water holes and “keep-up” the fences. While he was at it, he tried to get control of the gophers, badgers and weeds.
Hubert is survived by nephews: Chuck (Carole) Plymale, Dwain Plymale, William (Audrey) Plymale, Randy Plymale, Mike (Marilyn) Plymale, and Brad Plymale, Gary and Rob Shearer, John (Julie) Quist, Carl (Laurie) Quist, and Glen (Joan) Quist. Nieces are Bonnie (Frank) Ahl, Carol (Bob) Ross, Nancy Hull, Bette (Wayne) Teter, Karen O. Kolosvary, Donna (Jose) Cuevas, Linda Shearer, Donna (Stan) White and Darla (Craig) DuBois. He is also survived by his step children and their families, numerous grand nephews, nieces, family and friends who respected and loved him dearly.
Hubert was preceded in death by his parents, John G. (Bert) and Olive Plymale, wives Edna Ann and Anna Marie, brothers: Wayne, Laird, Fred, sisters: Inez, Ava, Audrey and Doris, and great nephew Charlie Plymale.

I have been neighbors for over 30 years with Hurbert. He was a good neighbor and took good care of his land and cattle. My thoughts go out to the family as he will be missed.
