James (Jim) Ross was born in Miles City Dec.10, 1928 and passed Feb.6, 2017 at the age of 89, at home with Family by His side. He was preceded in death by His Parents Fred & Evelyn Ross.
Jim lived an interesting life, joining the army during WWII & was part of the occupation forces in Japan. After His Honorable Discharge, He returned home to Billings Montana where He met His future Wife Ruth Miller. They were married June 14, 1947 & had three Daughters. He was an excellent finish carpenter, & moved His Family & Skills to Helena Montana to work on the Helena Senior High School. He also did repair work on Hauser Dam, & replaced tiles on the Helena Cathedral Spires hanging from a rope. He was also involved in The Urban Renewal Process. He retired from carpentry after many years, & took over the job as head of maintenance at McHugh Mobile Home Park, until fully retiring years later.
He enjoyed a number of hobbies, His favorites being creek fishing & rock hounding. He also became very accomplished at landscape painting, producing paintings proudly displayed in family homes.
He is survived by His three daughters Linda Brandt, Karen Hislop (Guy), and Sandra Dominick (Larry). Also Ten Grandchildren Lawrence Dominick, Cassidy Dominick & wife Lissette, Robert Hislop & Wife April, Colleen Dominick & partner Troy, Thaddaeus Dominick & wife Beth, Brian Dominick & Wife Ann, James Dominick & Wife Amy, Stacey Burton, William Curtis, Andra Hendrickson & Husband Mike. He is also survived by eight great grandkids, Kalan, Darren, London, Aisha, Collin, Hayley, Olivia, and Owen.
A military honors service will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday February 14th at the Montana State Veterans Cemetery Committal Shelter, Fort Harrison. Please visit below to offer a condolence to the family or to share a memory of Jim.
