John Loter passed away on April 25, 2019. He was born in Childress, Texas, on September 19, 1938, and lived in Helena since 1964. He was well known in his apartment complex on Ptarmigan Way, having lived there for over 10 years. John was also readily recognized around town. He preferred to pay bills and conduct business in person. With his 6 foot 4 inch frame, an arthritic bend at the waist, and a rather loud voice due to his severe hearing loss, he was easy to remember.
John was a longtime member of South Hills Church of Christ and his closest friends were there. Unfortunately, he had become mostly confined to home over his last two or three years. John was loyal to brands and people. He liked to count on others and to be counted upon. We will miss him. John never married. John’s parents and sister preceded him in death many years ago.
