Lincoln resident John Schouten, better known as “Slim”, died at his home with his wife and friends, after a long battle with end stage lung disease. He was 78 years old.
Slim was born on February 10, 1934 to Willem Schouten and Marie Van Der Aa in Holland. John survived World War II. He came to the United States in 1962 being sponsored by Boyd’s Chocolates. John became a US Citizen in 1967 and was very proud to be an American.
He had two sons, Eric Sterling, lives in West Virginia and Thijes Schouten (Deceased). John is survived by four grandchildren through marriage who adored him. Elisha and Lisa Desjardins of Yucca Valley, CA and Adrian and Madison Driggs from Eugene, OR.
He is survived by his wife, Ellie, who will always remember the smell of sweet peas all over our yard that Slim grew just for her.
