Louis M. Steiner Jr., age 86 of Cascade

November 28, 1927 – August 20, 2014

Our beloved father, Louis M. Steiner, departed from this life on Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at Peace Hospice Center, in Great Falls, to join his beloved wife, Sally, who departed 10 years ago on August 19, 2004.

Dad was home birthed to Louis Millard and Frieda Marion (Hohlman) Steiner on November 28, 1927, in Louisville, KY. He enlisted in the ROTC in the US Army while in high school. He served in the Philippines until 1947. He attended the University of Louisville after serving our country and married Dorothy Rita Koch in June of 1948. He worked at W.T. Grants in Louisville. He graduated from U of L in 1951 with a B.S. degree with a major in Chemistry.

He remarried Sally C. Vaughn in 1959 moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota.  In 1972 they moved to Denton, Montana and raised their sons on the ranch. They retired in Cascade, Montana in 1999.

He will be remembered as an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman.

He is survived by his only sister, Marion Steiner, Louisville, KY, his children: Connie (Lary) Pentz-Long, Oshkosh, WI, Linda (Dennis) Hanby, Broken Arrow, OK, Lou (Debbie), Hemet, CA, Doris (Brad) Hagford, Hackensack, MN, Victoria (Jeff) Skurka, South Beloit, IL, Jim (Linda), Clarksville, TN, John (Terrie) Ogden, UT, Dan (Debbie), Boardman, OR, Mike (Carolyn) Little Rock, AR, Martin (Alice) Great Falls, Montana, and Tony (late Tammy) Townsend, Montana. He has 38 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

A funeral Mass will be at 12:10 p.m., Monday, August 25th at Saint Mary Catholic Community, 1700 Missoula Ave., Helena, MT 59601. Burial with Military Honors will follow the Mass at the Montana State Veterans Cemetery, 3550 Heroes Rd., Fort Harrison, MT 59636.
