Marie Hicks passed away October 15, 2014 at St. Peters Hospital of a brief illness. Marie was born May 30, 1927 in Bird City, Kansas to George and Mayme Theye.
Marie Hicks is survived by her sons John (Raquel) Hicks of Helena, Montana; David Hicks of DeBorgie, Montana; Grandchildren Michelle Edmunds of Cummins, Georgia and Brian Willis of Denver, Colorado; Patrick Hicks of East Helena, Montana; Great grandchildren Justin and Shawn Ellingston; Brother George Theye of Liberal, Kansas, Sister Florence Hedby of Hanston, Kansas and several nephews and nieces.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband Clarence Hicks, son Darrell Willis and Grandson John Howard Hicks.
Marie was very social, enjoyed visiting neighbors, friends and family. She enjoyed watching baseball, gardening and word search puzzles.
A visitation for Marie will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday, October 20th at Retz Funeral Home, 315 E. 6th Ave, Helena, MT 59601. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 21st at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 1000 Helena Ave., with a burial immediately following at the Montana State Veterans Cemetery. Marie was the best neighbor anyone could ever ask for. She will be missed by so many. Such an active person and enjoyed all of her outside yard-work. Our many, many conversations will be something that we will cherish forever. Marie is in a better place now and we are blessed to have known her.
