Martha Diane Stewart of Helena, Montana passed away too soon on Saturday, December 12, 2015. She was born at St. Peter’s Hospital on November 21, 1969 to Allan and Connie Smigaj. Martha was the youngest of five girls. She attended and graduated from Helena High School in 1988.
Martha loved riding motorcycles in the mountains and visiting the family cabin in Marysville. She enjoyed gardening in her mother’s yard which gave her peace and contentment. After high school Martha married Jeff Stewart. From this marriage her three beautiful children were born. Olivia, Alex and Eaden, whom she loved more than anything.
Martha was employed at K-Mart, St. Mary’s Parish, St. John’s Nursing Home and the most rewarding job of motherhood. She was very active in AA and made many close friends through this organization.
She is preceded in death by her father, Allan Smigaj who she missed very much. She is survived by her husband Jeff, children Olivia, Alex and Eaden, her mother Connie Smigaj, and her four sisters, Becky (Rick) Casteel, Mary Bisom, Lisa (Marc) Duncan, Gina (Sverre) Smigaj- Johansen and her numerous nieces and nephews. All of whom will miss her immensely.
A celebration of Martha’s life will be held at St. Mary Catholic Community, Friday December 18, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. A reception will follow at the church.

I met Martha again when my sister Rose (who my mom actually named after Marth’s aunt Rose) moved next door to Jeff & Martha.
