I met Rodney Myers at Hannaford Street Baptist Church in 1989 where he was on the board. In 1990, Rodney joined my Christian Adult Single group with my wife Diann and I called Combat Mission. Later we moved backed to Helena and Rodney joined several Bible studies I led plus joined a new group of Single Adults at Canyon Ferry Road Baptist Church called 5C’s. Rodney was a pallbearer at my son Marshall’s funeral in 1993 and later was a pallbearer at my wife Diann’s funeral in 2010. I last talked to him approximated in early October and actually traveled to Helena October 23rd to see him, but God called Rodney Home the night of October 22nd, 2014. My prayers and sympathy for his daughters and grandchildren.

My husband, Nate, and I worked on the filters on the Fox Ridge ponds with Rodney for the past decade. We were heartbroken when we heard of his passing. Every time we spent time together, especially last month, he spoke of his great anticipation in seeing his daughters whenever he could. I hope you know how much he loved you and missed you.

In the weeks that have gone by since my friend Rodney left us, is filled with sighs. Every Tuesdays is a sad day. Once filled with joy and excitement to share the week, wonderful or not and to study the bible and pray for family and health with a true friend, now it is different. I know this will change over time, for all of us, but time is slow. I will, however, always remember the last night we studied together and I brought the Gather CD. How he smiled, eyes bright, and got our coffee, and then stated, “I want to hear this!” and turned up his Stereo till the floor vibrated. He sat down and sung, out loud, and slapped his knee to the beat — for 45 mins. I looked at him with a confused smile, this wasn’t his norm. He looked straight ahead with the smile, at times eyes close, without shame. I want to leave like that. Your dad was a good man and a Godly Man. We are better because of him.
On Tuesday, as was our four year custom, I will left his family up in prayer, to honor my friend Rodney. May we all behave in ways that honor God as Rodney lived. Good by old friend.

So sorry to hear of Rodney’s untimely death. However, we must remember that he has not really died but fallen asleep in the Lord Who has conquered death!
Rodney was a great friend when I was in high school with him from 1965-69. We had many good times especially in the band and at band camp (Camp Cann-edi-on near Newberrytown). I was very happy to have had a chance to visit with him at the last two class reunions. He had been away from Dillsburg for many years and so had I so it was really good to see him again and reminisce. May his memory be eternal.
